Our Hero. Specialist Alun Richard Howells
US Army SPC Alun R. Howells was killed in action on August 13th, 2007 in Baghdad, Iraq from injuries sustained by an armor-piercing grenade when enemy forces attacked his unit. He was my big brother, my best friend, a wonderful son to my parents, and he was loved by so many people. Before being deployed, he said that his biggest fear was not losing his life, but being forgotten if he never made it home. He will NEVER be forgotten.

I wear 2 bracelets. One is an MIA from the VN war. This is the 3rd
bracelet I have had bearing his name, which I have worn since 1975. You
can imagine that 35 years is pretty hard on just 1 bracelet. The second
bracelet is a young Spc from Sherman, Texas. There were no casualities
from my hometown, Denison, but one from the neighboring town. It is, and
has always been, an honor to wear the bracelet(s), and explain to those who
do not know what KIA, MIA,and POW mean.
Helping someone to u...

Dear HeroBracelets,
Thanks for the heads up.
I don't have a particular hero. I get my bracelets for guys and gals that I read about, or are Marines or were local or share a birthday. I also get random ones and then learn about them.
I wear 2 and rotate them whenever.
It's important to wear the bracelets. Everyone of those guys/gals was an American, a son or a daughter with dreams and loves, plans and desires. They will never know those dreams in this life. They knew the risks, they asked to g...

My Jason was the first man in my life to ever protect me. He tried to help me understand the war, the sacrifices, and how to stay strong. The first person I trusted unconditionally by choice. Jason was a lead and a man that everyone in his unit respected, loved, and honored. He left behind a son and a family that loved him more than life itself. Now, almost 5 years later, I still sleep in his clothes and have his pictures by the bed. I received a Hero Bracelet that was given out to the men in...

Dear Herobracelets,
I am a Herobracelets wearer... in memory of my son PJ Sora Jr. PJ was a LCPL in the Marine Corps, and was tragically killed in a HUMVEE roll over at 29 Palms, California, while preparing for deployment to Iraq with his weapons company.
I not sure most Americans are aware of how many of our service members all killed each year as a result of training exercises or non hostile circumstances. I do know this... PJ was an exemplary Marine who had many options in life, but cho...
