Sgt. Daniel J. Thompson, 24, of Madison, Wisconsin, died February 24, 2009, in Kandahar, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when an improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle. Sgt. Thompson was a member of the Individual Ready Reserve, assigned to the 715th Military Police Company, Melbourne, Florida.<
